Maureen McLaughlin, LPC brings twenty years of professional experience to Colorado families in need of her office, community and home-based therapeutic services. Maureen obtained her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Michigan State University, and her Master's degree in Community Counseling and Human Services from University of Colorado - Colorado Springs. She has dedicated her career to serving as a therapist in the child welfare system. Maureen works with parents, children, and families to improve safety, health, and connections among them. She values her positive relationships with case professionals and with families who, together, make up hard-working teams. In her free time, Maureen enjoys riding motorcycles and horses, snow skiing, and soaking in quality time with her three young grandchildren.
Jane Birkbeck serves as the business manager and intake coordinator with McLaughlin Counseling as an independent contractor. As a graduate from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a bachelor’s degree in finance, Jane works behind the scenes to support efficiency and professionalism at the agency. She loves how no day is the same, and the challenge is appealing to her. Jane’s favorite part of the job includes creating new systems to keep things running efficiently and fostering positive client relations. Jane is currently pursuing her MSW through Metropolitan State University of Denver. In her free time, Jane enjoys spending time with family, baking, skiing, and traveling to new places. She looks forward to interacting with clients and professional teams to ensure the highest quality of services.
Kelvin Nicholson is a therapeutic family time supervisor with McLaughlin Counseling as an independent contractor. He has been with McLaughlin Counseling since 2016, and he provides valuable services to families in the Quality Time Together program. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Ashford University and a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of the Rockies. Kelvin has been a therapeutic foster and group home director since 2006. He provides comprehensive case management services, including creating treatment plans and connecting clients and families to appropriate resources. Kelvin has extensive and vast range of experience in the field and is passionate about helping families reunify when necessary growth has been made. In his free time, Kelvin enjoys cooking for his family and being in the outdoors.
Jen Donahue serves as the intake coordinator with McLaughlin Counseling as an independent contractor. Jen attended Regis University where she received a BSN. She spent fifteen years as a psychiatric nurse providing mental health care for children & adolescents at The Children’s Hospital, as well as for teens and adults through Mental Health Cooperation of Denver. She also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Douglas County Human Services to which the children were successfully returned home. Jen’s passion lies in supporting children and families through challenging life events. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring new restaurants with her husband and friends, participating in family game night, and listening to Audible while walking her 2 dogs.
Allison "Alli" Belding is a family time supervisor and parenting coach with McLaughlin Counseling as an independent contractor. Allison came to us with 8 years of case management experience, while being employed with Adams County and Arapahoe County probation working with a multitude of caseloads. She is currently working with Intellectual and Developmental disability individuals supporting families with resources and community involvement while receiving waivers. She has a great passion for helping our community and providing the best service possible. When she is not working, she is enjoying family, friends, hiking, and Crossfit.
Ronneka Cox is a family supervisor and parenting coach with McLaughlin Counseling as an independent contractor. Ronneka acquired her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado Boulder. She brings 15 years of experience in the child welfare industry to the team. She has held a wide variety of positions throughout those years, such as a case manager, family time supervisor, residential coordinator, intake social caseworker, human service advocate, and more. Ronneka has a passion for helping others and creating a positive and safe family environment for her clients. In her free time, Ronneka enjoys playing piano and performing live with her band.
Dr. Lakeisha Riley PhD, MSW, is a therapeutic family time supervisor and parenting coach with McLaughlin Counseling as an independent contractor. She is an accomplished clinician with over six years’ experience. Dr. Riley obtained a B.A in Business Administration Management, a Master in Social Work with a certification in adult trauma from the University of Denver. Dr. Riley has vast facilitation and family engagement skills, demonstrates knowledge and understanding of primary care-behavioral health integrated programs, including fundamental elements of co-located and/or fully integrated services. Her greatest strength is that she has the ability to put aside personal prejudices to deal with others in a logical, clinical, and helpful manner. Dr. Riley feels that if you are honest with yourself, realize your faults, see your potentials, and acknowledge your personal beliefs, you will be more likely capable of putting them aside to deal with others fairly and without prejudices.
Traci Streifer is a family time supervisor and parenting coach with McLaughlin Counseling as an independent contractor. Traci received her BA from the University of California, Riverside and JD from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in San Francisco. After 16 years of legal practice she moved to Colorado and was a foster parent with Arapahoe County for 6 years. Combining her legal training with her passion for helping kids, she became a Guardian Ad Litem, representing the best interests of children in Dependency and Delinquency cases in Douglas and Arapahoe counties until retirement from legal practice in 2021. In her free time Traci enjoys golf, hiking, books, travel and movies.
Leslie Navarro Conger is a therapeutic family time supervisor and parenting coach with McLaughlin Counseling as an independent contractor. She has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Social Work. Leslie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Addictions Counselor. She has been working with children, youth and families for over 25 years in a variety of capacities. Her framework is to provide a strength based and client centered approach while integrating accountability and motivation to change. Leslie enjoys working within a multidisciplinary team to assist families to establish and integrate goals.
Lisa Gertzen is a therapeutic family time supervisor and a parenting coach with McLaughlin Counseling as an independent contractor. Lisa has been in the Human Services field for over 25 years. She has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from William Carey College in New Orleans, and a Masters of Art in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch New England Graduate School in Keene, New Hamsphire. Lisa has worked for Denver Family Crisis Center and as an intake and ongoing caseworker for Douglas County Human Services. For the last 10 years Lisa ran a court advocacy program where she advocated and guided individuals who were victims of domestic violence. She has been a victims specialist with Jefferson County DA's Office and completed the Colorado Advocate Certification Program. She completed a certification in mediation in 2018. Lisa recognizes that we all have our indivdiaul life stories and experiences. We view our unique stories through our own life expereinces. Her goal is to meet people where they are while supporting, encourgaing, and empowering people to be the best version of themselves. She is currently working on her LPC. Lisa loves her solitude and enjoys a good book or movie. She has 3 children and 3 dogs that keep her ageless and on the go.

Jesse completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Education at Wayland Baptist University in San Antonio, Texas and his Master of Education Degree at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. Jesse has always had a passion for working with children and helping others. In addition to working as a Career and Academic Success Coordinator at a private University, Jesse has worked in the child protective services field for over 8 years. In his free time, Jesse loves spending time with family, hiking, traveling, and playing racquetball.
Samantha “Sam” Curtis is a bilingual therapeutic family time supervisor and parenting coach with McLaughlin Counseling as an independent contractor. Sam graduated from University Maryland Global Campus with her Associates in Spanish and Bachelors of Science in Social Science with a minor in Sociology. Sam recently completed her Masters of Social Work degree through Colorado State University. She has a wide range of experience working with children in school settings and with diverse populations. She is bilingual in Spanish and English. In her free time, Sam enjoys family outings, yoga, and trying new types of food.

Debra Walz is a family time supervisor and parenting coach with McLaughlin Counseling as an independent contractor. Debra graduated from Northeastern University in Boston Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. She started her career with Child Protective Services in Shelbyville, Kentucky doing child abuse investigations. It was during this time she found her true passion, which was working with children and families. As a result, she spent the next twenty-six years working with this population in various roles to include administration of the Victim Assistance Program in Benton County. As part of this role, she was the liaison to the various law enforcement agencies, the Children’s Advocacy Center, the Department of Human Services and the Benton County Women’s Shelter, where she served as Board President for two years. She also developed numerous programs to help educate the public regarding issues of safety, signs of child abuse, domestic violence, stalking and sexual assault, in addition to planning and coordinating events to honor Crime Victims.
Debra then moved to Colorado, where she worked at the Arapahoe County Department of Human Services for fifteen years. She started as a Permanency Caseworker in the Sexual Abuse Recovery Team, was then promoted to a position in Intake, specializing in Sexual Abuse and Sex Trafficking. As part of her role in Intake she was the liaison with Sungate, the Children’s Advocacy Center, was a member of the 18th Judicial District Multi-Disciplinary Task Force on Human Trafficking, as well as worked with the Crimes Against Children’s Units within the multiple law enforcement agencies in Arapahoe County as well outside jurisdictions. In addition, Debra also spent time as a Mastery Caseworker on the Child Abuse Hotline.
What is most important to Debra is that we always treat others with dignity, respect and kindness.
The agency, Quality Time Together family time program by McLaughlin Counseling LLC, is the private practice of Maureen McLaughlin, LPC and was founded in 2012. Between Maureen and the independent contractors who provide family time services , we have over 200 years of experience in this industry!
In working with families, Quality Time Together partners with children, caregivers, respondent parent(s), foster/adoptive parent(s), extended families, and other members in any given family system. Quality TIme Together supports families in collaborating with caseworkers, probation officers, pretrial officers, guardian ad litem, respondent attorneys, public defenders and district attorneys.
